8. Why did my Pay-Per-View order take so long to show up on my bill?

Dish Network pay-per-views can only be billed once downloaded. Satellite receivers will only call in to download pay-per-view if it has a "Call Home" condition. A Call Home condition is generated when one of the following conditions are met:

  1. It has been 60 days since the receiver last called home.
  2. The credit limit has been exceeded on the Smartcard. (Normally more than $25 worth of purchases.)
  3. The memory limit has been exceeded on the Smartcard. (Normally 9 pay-per-view purchases.)

The total time necessary to clear sufficient space for further purchases may be up to 48 hours. Here are a couple steps for you to perform to get the pay-per-view working again.

  1. First, make sure that you have a telephone line connected from the back of the receiver to a jack in the wall.
  2. Go to your main menu, then 'system setup' menu, then 'purchase information,' see if there are any movies listed there.
  3. Go back to the 'system setup' menu, then to the 'diagnostics' screen and run the phone connection diagnostic.
  4. If this passes, turn the receiver off with the remote control for 15 seconds, then turn it back on using the remote.
  5. The phone line does need to remain clear for 20 minutes, to ensure that the download completes.
