Dish Network Articles: Questioning on cable vs. satellite deals comparisons

With the growing popularity of satellite technology I had to ask myself is satellite television really cheaper then cable television. To be quite honest I was rather skeptical before I sat down and did the math.

With the multiple satellite television advertisements my mission started off wanting to find the scheme. I was unsuccessful at finding the hidden agenda. It turns out after I did the homework it really is a better value. I thought the idea of giving away satellite equipment was outrageous. Why would anyone give their products away for free? I'm still not sure, all I can gather is that they are becoming so popular they can afford to do this. I still feared that receiving local channels would be an extra cost.
Turns out that it is included in most packages. I can't guarantee this is the case for everyone who signs up for satellite will have this option. All I can suggest is to check that out before you order.

I was still curious as to why the satellite equipment was being given away for free. I have concluded that it is a strategic marketing plan on behalf of the satellite providers. The equipment that is available for free is basic equipment, so it is a great deal for those just looking for satellite cable and nothing more. You will have to pay for your equipment if you are looking for any kind of upgrades such as DVR, which is growing every more popular. Also those with High Definition television will pay even more for their equipment. Some of it may seem pricey, but in the math it will equal itself out with in a year or more. Unlike cable television which will just charge you an extra monthly charge for upgrades and the equipment never becomes yours.

If you opt for the free equipment all you have to do is pay for shipping and handling which is pretty much the same cost you would pay for cable installation. There is a catch to signing up for the free satellite equipment offer. You must make a one-year commitment to the service. Which isn't bad for those who definitely know satellite will work in the area they live in. Sometimes when people live in wooded areas do have trouble receiving satellite signals. That is something I would check into before I agreed to any annual commitment.

I compared all the pricing between satellite television and cable television and found that you will get more for your buck with satellite. It makes no difference which package you chose even if it is the highest priced available you will still get more channels then cable can offer.

I started off thinking there was a major catch to the offer and all I learned is the catch is saving money.
